Meet and Greet!

Good morning from the small comforts of my other tin can!  I am well rested after a 10 hour nap! All I needed to end my work day was a good meal with a few drinks, the sweet company of Matt and I was dead to the world  :) as soon as I laid my head down.

As for the interview yesterday....it was basically a meet and greet as the man I met was a trusted driver taking over the reins while the manager was out on vacation.  He is going to give his opinion of me to the boss and then, it is just a waiting game.  I told him I wanted the job, I was ready for the job, I could get any last minute items taken care of for the job on Monday and ......... if they didn't hire me now, it will have to wait a MONTH.  Cross you fingers that Monday, my phone will be ringing!

Today is going to be fun between the 2 hours at the tattoo parlor and a party with friends tonight.  Tomorrow, cooking meals for our next trip out, and Monday........who knows!    Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Dinner break in Stanfield, OR

Boy, this milking of the hours can be exhausting!  Since leaving Jerome this morning, I have driven only 359 miles in 10 hours!  I have only 1.5 hours of drive time but 3.5 hours available on my 14.  Soooo.....I will sit for one hour and enjoy my dinner..........mmmmmm leftovers and drive for 1.5 hours and stop my clock at 7:30.  That means my dear virtual  truckers, I can't be on the road until 5:30 in the morning and dropping this load at 7:30.

A lot better than 3 AM!

Still don't know if they will send me home or shag  me....we will know tomorrow!

Rhonda is going to be a GRANDMOTHER!

Congrats sis!

Killing time in Caldwell, ID

I had a great evening with Lorene and John!  She made a wonderful pasta dish (I have leftovers waiting in my cooler) and I enjoyed a good night sleep (I took a 13 hour break!).....so I was expecting a nasty note when I finally made it to the truck.  Instead, there was a message changing my delivery time to 3 AM tonight...NOT GOING TO HAPPEN and another note wanting to know if I would interested in working a job fair for the company tommorrow....HAHAHAHAHA!

And...someone broke into my trailer last night (the seal is gone) to only realize I had nothing of  value but large pallets of diapers!

Now back to dispatch.  Once I was ready to hit the road (10 hrs to the drop), I requested my hours.  I have only 8.5 hours on my 70 which means, I won't make the delivery today. If I ran the 8.5 hours, they would  expect me to take a 10 hour break and drive just after midnight to drop the load (it would still be late).  Soooo.....I have 8.5 hours to drive in 14 hours.  I think a long break is in  order so when I close the logs tonight, I won't be able to drive  until at least  5:30 AM with the load arriving at 7:30 AM and hopefully straight to my  interview.

Not only that, my dispatch told me that I requested home time starting tomorrow and I will be home tomorrow.  I told her that time off meant waking up in my bed, not waking up in the truck and working.

And they wanted me to represent them at a job fair.....let me hand out fliers on how not to apply!

Had a nice 7 hr break thanks to Planning!

Gads, you won't believe these people!  They had me up at 4 AM to drop a load at the yard by 5 AM.  Then I am sent a message that my load is ready for pickup at 12:30!  I ended up eating breakfast, returning to bed for an hour, watched half of a movie, drove 45 minutes to our pickup, fueled, showered, ate lunch and now killing 15 minutes letting you all know about it!

There is one good thing about the break, it will put me back in track to spend time with Lorene as my hours will be close to over by the time I reach Jerome.  There is no deadline date on delivery so I can enjoy a morning coffee with sis as we both get ready for work....IF planning LEAVES me  ALONE.

Pictures!

Poor driver bottomed out on the main road with this load.  With a clearance of 6 inches, that is easy to do!

For Charlie!

Now this is a hay ride!

Bbbbrrrrriiiiinnnnggggggg......wake up! It is 2 AM Pacific Time!

But only 4 AM here........time to hit the road as we are only one hour from the yard.  Time for breakfast after we pick up our next load that will be taking us home!

To heck with your coffee, time is a wasting........but I got mine  ;)

Stuck in limbo in Snowville, UT!

Just as I pulled into this truck stop for a cup of coffee, I get a message that I am to swap loads at the exact truck stop that I stopped at and I am to sit here for 3 hours until the driver gets here which will have me spending the night as I will be out of hours.  Everything was perfect this morning for dinner with Lorene and now the company is being down right illogical!

I could have had this load at the drop at 8 AM, they moved it to 6:30 AM (and I would have been an half hour  late and no dinner with Lorene), to now just sitting here waiting for any kind of dang nab it answer on what I should be doing!  I sat on hold twice with dispatch for 10 minutes and got no one......so here I type!

AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Well my virtual truckers, we are spending the night in this fly infested town!  It appears that a team is required in Oregon, hence why we are swapping loads.  Looks like I will be dropping their load in Ogdon and picking up another load for Kent, WA.........off for a walk before the other truck arrives

Stuck in Monticello, Utah!

Dang nab it!  Here I was just yesterday telling you that I was going to be dropping this load in two days......not!  I got up at 4:30 AM and hit the road with the thoughts of having lunch with Lorene running through my lil head when it dawned on me that I didn't check my hours.  I pulled over and quickly requested and I am glad I did (well, I am not).  I only had 4.5 hours left on my 70 hour clock!  And four hours later, here I sit since 9:30 this morning.

Good news for Lorene!  You get to cook me dinner tomorrow!  I would call you and let you know but no cell service is this lil Mormon town.  I am suppose to get 10.5 hours on my clock tomorrow which will get me to Jerome for the night and heading to Oregon first thing in the morning to drop this load in the afternoon on the 14th.  No, Lorene, I won't spend the night as I need to be behind wheel at 5 AM but we will have at least 4 hours to visit!

And, I really need to use my brain more!  I tore my truck apart and cleaned it in the process while searching for the spare key that I always take with me when I leave the truck........with no luck.  Until....without looking, I moved the visor and it was there like magic!  I always hang it there.......augh!!!!

Another lucky shot.....

Good afternoon from Continental Divide, New Mexico!

We delivered that empty trailer in Albuquerque at noon today and were given a new load to take all the way to Oregon….I will be home on time!  The load will be delivered in two days and I am sure I will pick up a load to take to Seattle or Pacific.  The past week and a half has been good, with three runs over 1000 miles and the 550 miles to drop an empty trailer.  My paycheck next week is going to be sweet!

I will be faxing off an application tomorrow to a company that everyone is crossing their fingers on…….that local driver position.  I will make sure you all hear about it after my “meet and greet” on Friday.  Other than that, another day and another truck stop.

Oh, I did find out my back trailer tire can push a 300 pound concrete barrier……opps!  And, Gonja thinks prairie dogs are short eared rabbits!
