Lunch break in Gary, IN

I am taking a long lunch so I will catch you up to date!  After that FOUR hour shag on the 28th, we picked up a load  in Elwood, took it to St. Louis, picked up a load there and took it to Kohler, WI; picked up a load in Green Bay, WI and took it to Sterling, IL yesterday.  We now have a load that we are taking to Winchester, VA that is not due until Monday morning and is only 10.5 hours away!  I couldn't reach anyone at the office so I assume that an early delivery is out of the question. So.........let's take good breaks today, park early and repeat for tomorrow!

And thank you to the shop that fixed my trailer in Green Bay!  I picked up a trailer at a cheese factory (they did not sell to the public.....augh) and while cleaning it out, I found a nice puddle of water at the nose.  Either the client or the previous driver decided to hit a low bridge and not report it. We arrived at the shop at 7 AM, I took a shower and was surprised to see a huge lunch that was being served 9:00 AM!  I took one plate of sausage, ham and pull pork to the truck and dropped them in the cooler and proceeded back for seconds for crab salad, potato salad and tuna salad.......and dropped them in the cooler.  I scored 3 meals!

Best news, we were out of the shop by 9:30!  The company actually paid quickly on this one and a good thing, couple more return trips to the kitchen and I would have over filled my cooler :)

No news on the new employment home front.  One company will certainly consider me in April and I will be chatting with a refer company soon....so I will continue to pay my dues until someone decides to pay me!

Pictures!

Tom from the shop.....told him I would take down his picture if he could find my blog!

I think this truck is hot!

Alive and well in Rochelle, IL

Just a quick note as I am 6 miles from my pickup and then off to Virginia.  I will try and get you all updated tonight.........see you then!

OMG......I am going to take a NAP!

Good afternoon from the same spot as this morning.  I swapped my load with another driver who did not bring an empty trailer......augh, but that ok!  I took Gonja for a walk afterwards and a mile down the frontage road to the next exit, was a company yard.....imagine that!

I will be taking a nap here shortly (lovely chicken salad and an hour of streaming), I will wake to coffee, another hour of streaming, a walk to the yard for a well needed shower and wash a load of laundry.  I can then return, eat dinner, socialize for a bit at a nearby club and be ready to hit the road in the morning at 5 AM......I hope!  If I don't see you later tonight, you know where the sleeper is  :)

What surprise....NOT with my planners!

I woke up at 5 AM to find out that I did not have any hours!  I am only 18 miles away from the drop and can't move the truck until tomorrow.  There are sending another truck to swap out with me so this day late delivery can get to the client this morning.  This is a VERY small truck stop so I unhooked and parked next to my trailer so I can have a spot for the other driver in case he does have a trailer.  He is supose to be here in 10 minutes.

Enjoy your day.  I am going to enjoy doing nothing, just wish for a shower (this location doesn't have one)!

Ran over my 70 in Channahon, IL

I ran out of hours by 30 minutes just 15 miles from my drop location!  Good news, time to catch up on some of my favorite shows as the WIFI here is great!  Bad news, the new drop time is set for 9 AM which means that dispatch will expect me to drive after 9 PM.  Great news, I called the client and since it is a drop load, not a live load, I don't need an appointment.  So, by now, you should all know what I am going to do........don't you?

Start my clock at 6 AM of course!

Gonja and I had a good work out today, jogging about 4 miles and I can tell it has been awhile!  So what do I do.....eat a homemade chili cheeseburger for dinner!  Looks like we might be in for 5 miles tomorrow.......Gonja is not too happy about that as he did not get to share my meal.

And, I impressed a few drivers with my backing ability into a very tight tractor spot, not tractor/trailer.  Small lot and very few spots so I grabbed what I could.  I did have a little help from a female driver as I could not see the passenger side well enough to judge distance.  A good ole boy gave me a pat on the back and stated he would never have tried it!

Off to relax for the first time in a week............
