Good Thursday evening from a lil Pilot truck stop just east of Chicago

Good Thursday evening from a lil Pilot truck stop just east of Chicago.  We had only 45 minutes on the clock and covered 558 miles.  That alone surprises me as we made quite a few stops and a border crossing.  I did get layover pay (nothing to brag about but it did cover half the cost of the gold piercing jewelry….got tired of fighting infections).

It was a wet ride as we followed the EX hurricane as it headed west, the same direction as us; so there is really nothing to share at the moment except…….PICTURES!

See you in the morning………and Mom, I love you!!!!!!  She left me two VMs while I was in Canada  J

Always wonder what the bottom of the whale bobber looked like!

Good Wednesday afternoon from Collingwood, Ontario

Good Wednesday afternoon from Collingwood, Ontario, tucked away inside a loading dock waiting for a load of car windows to take Colorado.  I seem to be doing that more than I like lately….waiting.

Remember that load I picked Oklahoma to take to Brampton, Ontario?  I was given a deadline of 6 PM on September 7th.  Well, dear virtual truckers, I ran that load hard and dropped it at the customer yesterday at 7 PM!  I was so proud of myself for getting the load there early to only have it brought to my attention that the load was due on the 4th!  I wondered about that when I picked it up; as the shipper said the trailer had been loaded since the 1st.

Hmmmmm…..and it was Labor Day when the holiday dispatch said there was little freight moving!!!  She was right, loads weren’t moving; they were just parked!

I was up at 6 AM waiting on a load and was tickled to have something within two hours instead of two days which is usually the case when in Canada.  I arrived at 10 AM to only be turned away as our load would not be ready until at least 4 PM as I was not in the books for receiving until tomorrow morning. It was not a bad thing as I parked the trailer and went walking with Gonja.  We returned to the yard to see that two other company trailers had been here (one still here getting loaded).  They called in help and forgot to let me (I was the first one here).

So, here we sit and wait…….it is now 4:30 and they just started loading.  I have enough hours on my clock to drive till 10 PM but we all know that is too late for me and for finding a parking spot.  I will close down at 8 PM wherever we find a place to do so and call it good.  It could be here at this rate.

And….it is here.  By the time the paperwork was processed, I had just over an hour of drive time and not a clue where to park so we are here for the night.  Sleep well as we are up before the sun!  I hope I get layover pay for this load!

Back in Joplin again...for the night only!

I got a nice load to take to Canada, had to pick it up 2 hours west and now back in Joplin for the night.  Before I got this load, I took Gonja for a walk on a back road and came across some true hillbillys (straight from their mouths) or is that hill billys?  Lovely folk and so enjoying that cold beer quite a few times since opening their eyes this morning ;)

Enjoy!

Yes, there was a fireplace is this 5th wheel camper!

Beautiful Lacy and her puppy.

Ready for the prom!

This  poor man had a stiff neck after spending the night in his chair.....outside but he didn't feel a thing until morning if you know what I mean  ;)

He plays the strings at a local club.....for the women and free beer!

The family pet........

Canada is calling!

It is 1:30 in the afternoon and I just was notified that I have a load ready for pick up at 10 PM this evening heading to Canada.  As you all know, I won't drive nights so I called the client in OK and the load is ready for pickup.  Time to end this vacation short and hit the road!  Climb into the sleeper everyone........let's burn some rubber!
