Warning to new drivers!

I just wanted to share with the new drivers out there on what to expect in wages at .26 per mile.  I worked 307 days in 2011 for up to 11 hours per day.  I had home time of only 35 days for the whole year.  Care to guess what my year of wages were?

$20,300

As a new driver, whether you start with Werner, Swift or Schneider (all bottom feeders of drivers that need to gain experience); your first year is going to be tough.  I could not imagine trying to raise a family or pay a mortgage on such low wages.  I am grateful to dear friends and no debt that allowed me to live below the proverty level and be able to keep money in the bank and not someone's back pocket!

What have I accomplished since being home........

Tooth pulled
Home cleaned
Pickup cleaned
W-2 is with accountant
Wage claim filed against Werner
Pork loin cooked for next trip
Game hens cooking for next trip
Laundry washed
Applied for three office positions and one local driving position (long haul driving wasn't my choice of a career, it was just....my only choice at the time)

Things left to do:

Hamburger/chicken/steak to cook for next trip
Truck to organize from 3 months of supplies to 3 weeks

And I still have two days left!  Yehaww!

2009 Camping trip

Boots.....a very BIG cat!

I am home!!!!!

Good news....the lil RV was still standing (I do live in the forest with trees that like to fall over).  The bad news.......MOLD.  Since I haven't stepped foot in my home since October, with no heat, mold will accumulate when you live in a damp environment such as the foothills of Seattle.  Not only that, the trailer was without power for some time and what was once food became furry monsters in the fridge and freezer.....ewwww!  And....the same thing happened to the truck as it has been parked for so long.  Hello BLEACH!

I did make it to the dentist yesterday and I have a DEAD tooth.  Surgery is scheduled for this week to remove it and be fitted with a temporary.  My dentist and I worked out the financials (including the previous cleaning).  As for getting an implant....not here!  They want $2300 for one tooth and Mom mentioned she was getting implants for $1000 a tooth.    As for Cobra, it is $350 a month, more than the cost of removing the tooth!  I will still contact the insurance company to see if it will cover part or most of the $$$ for an implant.

No check from Werner for the bond money they took out of my wages so I will contact L&I to file a Wage Claim.  I still have 10 pounds of mail to sort through...augh.  And to make matters worse, no tomato juice for a Bloody Mary!!!!!  It is going to be a long day!

Oh, we return to work next Tuesday  ;)

Good morning from Sunnyside, Washington

We arrived here last night at 7 PM after leaving Lorene's place at 11 AM.  I picked up this load of chocolate bars Saturday morning in Ogden, UT and they are not due for delivery until Monday night at 10 PM!  Well, if I have to sit on the load that long in order to get home, might as well enjoy some family time!

I got to Jerome at 4 PM and at Lorene's by 5 PM.  It was my lucky day as Lorene was having a surprise birthday party for her son-in-law, Matt.  I got to get caught up with family members I haven't seen in a long time!  I stayed up late (11 PM), slept in, and FINALLY got that Sunday morning breakfast I have been asking about for months!

It is currently 9:30 AM and we don't want to start my clock too early as the destination is only 4 hours away so I will be taking Gonja for a walk shortly, stop at Walmart to exchange for a new cooler and get my nails done; and arrive at the receivers by 8 PM.  Once empty, I will drop the trailer in Auburn and head home for home time!

Next home time will be with sister Rhonda in Indie!
