Stopped for lunch.........and it is not from my cooler!

Just ordered prime rib for lunch at KJ Travel Center ;)  You all know I like this place! We are on our way to Aberdeen to pick up a load of potatoes to take to Salt Lake City.  We will swap our load there as these spuds are going all the way to Louisiana and they are still trying to get me slowly home.....

Jaw is feeling better and the tooth occasionally aches but doable.  I will survive!

We drove through Yellowstone Park today and the snow was high!  The roads were clear and it was 46 degrees but I could just imagine traveling on this road in the dead of winter....NOT.  We did see some buffalo but no deer or elk.  I will post pictures later.

Nothing else to say......gads, I am boring myself, I can just imagine what I am doing to you!  Supper is on!

My last posting for the day, my day off!

And you know what, I don't mind at all as I have worked 4 weeks without a day off.  Gonja and I have walked 3 times today and probably 1 more before we retire at 8 PM.  It has been a beautiful day in Billings......bet the temps hit the mid 70's!

We will be picking up a load in Rigby, ID, tomorrow morning and taking it to Salt Lake City for a swap.  By my calculations, we will be spending the night in Salt Lake and see if they will head us north Saturday morning.

James, I made your favorite quota for today in postings...........

Mom and Lorene, take a break from moving already!

Rhonda.....enjoy your weekend!  She rejoined the world of the working stiffs this week  ;)

Hugs to Pix and Irbie!  My grandson is now 4 months old...... :)

No teeth, no toothache....lucky bird!

Here are the numbers!

These are all cash quotes for a healthy adult, no xrays, one hour cleaning:

Duvall Dentist:  $190
Kirkland Dentist $115
Redmond Dentist $129

So here I ponder on the $384 dollars that was billed to the insurance company.  You know, if you are only allowed $1200 a year for all dental procedures; you would get three cleanings and anything else, gosh forbid you need a root canal, would come out of your pocket at the insurance markup!  I think I will be visiting the Kirkland dentist if this tooth does not calm down.

Dispatcher got a hold of me stating that he was still trying to get me a load home.  I told him that I am on meds and so far, things have calmed down.  Try and have me home no later than the 27th and we all should be good unless surgery is required for the tooth.  Hopefully we will have a load soon!

Ouch!

The Great Buffalo watches from above!

He was a handsome boy......very interested in Gonja

Now this is the way we should travel!

Good morning from Billings, Montana!

It has been a long two days since I left the shipper and yesterday seemed it would never end!  We hit the road at 7 AM and arrived at our drop location at 7 PM with only 2 hours of breaks in between.  I should have been able to take a 10 hour break but I had to check in the load at 3 AM (I stayed on line 1 Off Duty).  The alarm clock when off at 3 AM, was told to check in again at 3:30, was told my door was given to another, at 4:30 was called to back into door 3, at 5:00 was told to dock at door 13 as I could not get the truck into door 3 without hitting something!

I logged onto line 4 (on duty) at 5 AM as I was tired and just wanted to start my daily clock so I was guaranteed an early day.  I dropped the load and ended here at the Flying J for a decent shower and a decent break.  I told dispatch I would be ready for a new load at 8:30 and it is now 8:39 so the day is still early.

While en route yesterday, my dentist called in some meds for my toothache and I requested to get home as soon as possible as each day brings added pain.  I was surprised to find out that my dentist charge $384 dollars for a standard cleaning.....one hour in the chair!  It was no wonder I was over my yearly amount as per my conversation with Lorene, her insurance pays that much for three cleanings a year!  I am going to call three dentists back home for a cleaning quote.  I might be seeing another dentist for this toothache!  No wonder my dentist only works 3.5 days a week!

Time to search the web!

We are half way to Billings, Montana

When I decide we needed to walk a bit more this morning, the thought of a shower and the blood that was caked on the back of my head was a much more appealing idea.  I told dispatch I was driving to a truck stop for a shower, he stated that I should do that during my 10 hour break and I stated......Sam's Club doesn't have showers!  I logged onto line 3 driving (which started my clock and that was quickly noted) and headed to the Flying J.

I washed a load of clothes (which I am now drying) and took my shower.  Just as I got back to the truck, I got my load......42,000 pounds of beef going to Montana, cattle country!  Maybe they just send them south for slaughter, raised the price for packaging and shipping and then hit the Montana locals with jacked up prices from cattle they raise.  It is only my thought after my time in New Zealand........they did the same thing with sheep, their meat and their wool.

I think if the weather holds out (we are only an hour south of Cheyenne) we should hit Billings before our hours run out as the load is due first thing Thursday morning.  And the closer I get to home, the more this dang tooth is bothering me.  I better have my Cobra package waiting for me when I get home for Werner so I can at least get a little help on the fees.  But after talking to the front office gal, the insurance refused payment for my teeth cleaning!  You know, I may be on the road but I do have email and a telephone which I will address with my dentist as this work was done back in September!

Time to fold laundry and try to sleep............

It is a beautiful morning at Sam's Club!

Now this is not a good sign!  If I have time to blog a couple of times a day or daily, that means I am not driving........remember that!

I was so tired last night that the jumping of my trailer while getting unloaded didn't even faze my slumber.  The knock on the door did however as it was 12:30 in the morning and my trailer was empty.  I was so tired, that I drove to the end of the parking lot and climbed back into bed.........

We were up at 6:30, walked to Sonic for coffee and breakfast; and now waiting for our next load (it is 8:30 AM).  I would love to go jogging as I blame a lot of my ailments on lack of exercise but I still have that cold in my chest and had to take a pain pill for the tooth.  But I do think a longer walk will do us both good.  Later!

That nasty storm I told you about.....and there were some tornadoes seen as it moved east!

One bruised and battered Reia is up past her bedtime!

Good evening from the loading dock of Sam's Club in Amarilo, Texas.  It has been a long day with Mother Nature kicking my backside, head, shoulders........let me explain!

As you know, I got a late start with a load that had a late drop.  I had to wait in line forever in order to get fuel.  When I finally reached the pump, I jumped out and quickly started entering my credit card information and then all of a sudden, WHACK!  I was shoved to the ground, my glasses flew off my head, and my body felt like it had been hit by a NFL quarterback!  My driver door was caught in a huge gust of wind and it hit me from behind!  I felt my head split as my eyes saw white where the door caught the side of my head and my upper back.  I slowly stood and quickly had to sit as I felt the blood starting to tickle down my neck.  Oh GADS!

I grabbed some papertowels, held them to the cut and proceeded to fuel.  Within 5 minutes, the bleeding stopped, I could see straight, and the truck was filling up.  And off we go!

When I got to the shipper, the winds were picking up even more due to a fast approaching thunder storm from the west.  My truck was facing the wind and I was at the back of the trailer trying like heck to get the doors open and secure.  That dang wind was pushing against me as I pushed back and just as I was ready to secure the door, a stronger gust of air would send me and the door flying backwards!  At my third attempt, another driver who saw me flapping in the wind was kind enough to assist and I was finally able to drop the trailer into the dock.

Now it is nearly 11 PM, here I sit with another toothache, a sore back and a sore head and should have been in bed two hours ago.  So tell me, how was your day????

That nap went out the window!

We got a load.......375 miles away.  We are going to Amarillo Texas.......let's go!

I am STILL in Fort Worth!

And yes, I did the legal thing last night and went to line 3 (driving) to deliver that load I sat on for 12 hours.  I was able to go to line 4 (off duty drive) at 11 PM so I could drive to a truck stop for the night and not interrupt my clock.  I was sound asleep by midnight.

7 AM came around way to quick!  I grabbed a quick shower, walked Gonja and let dispatch know I was ready to roll at 8 AM.  It is now.....10:30.  My big paychecks came to an end for this week.  I really need to do laundry but no laundry facilities here.  So, we will just sit and watch the storms roll by in between walks and a nap or two.  I am still fighting this cold bug......93% human!

And we have pictures back........I can now upload up to 10,000!  Gads, how many years of trucking will that take to fill up???

I loved how they painted buildings on the building!

Dang pole ruined my shot!

We are getting back to the lovely sunsets and sunrises!

Ya gotta do what you gotta do!

I am currently sitting on a stack of drywall in front of the Home Depot on the south side of Fort Worth.  I am parked at a QuikMart that provides truck parking but nothing else such as WiFi or showers.  Home Depot has free WiFi and gives me a couple of hours to kill as we........are sitting for 12 hours!  Yuppers, we got here at 8 AM to be told that we need to drop this load tonight.  Augh!

So, at 7:30, we will be heading to the distribution center which is less than 5 miles away to drop this load.....on line1 (off duty).  I am doing a bad thing but I can't see putting myself on line 3 (drive) and 4 (on duty) for a few hours of work delaying me an early morning start (6 AM).  Let's see what happens, shall we!

I had a restless night with a sore tooth which as been feeling great since I woke up and got all that congestion out of my system.  I would say I am at 90% human.......looking forward to tomorrow at this rate.  Now let's try and add pictures!

No pictures yet, I might just have to bite the bullet and spend 5 bucks!
