Go figure!

Gonja and I had a nice walk in a little Mexican neighborhood and returned to the truck to get my wallet as there was the neighborhood Mexican restaurant and local meat shop......less than 2 miles away.  We get back to the truck at 11:30 and we were assigned a load!  Augh.....I could almost taste those tacos dang nab it!!!

Now let's see where we are going while making a cold sandwich........augh!

We are picking up a load in Laredo and taking it to Dallas.....grab those cowboy boots!

10 AM.......and still waiting!

Do you think the company knows that I am leaving???  Gads!

Just got a call from Marie.  Her life in North Dakota has been an eye opening experience and really pushing her mentally and physically.  She actually told her trainer off last night, something that so shocked me as she has been taken abuse from others for years and just brushes it off her shoulder.  It rocks that she finally grew "balls" as she needs them in the oil fiends of North Dakota.  Between the harsh elements and harsher men, she can stand her own, even if the job does kill her ;)

We got to watch the sun come up......

Yuppers, we watched the sun rise from the comfort of our bunk!  Now why is this?

Come on my virtual trucks, we all know why........WEEKEND DISPATCH!

I needed those extra few hours of sleep anyway  :)  So now while our 10 hour clock slowly ticks away, enjoy another cup of hot coffee!

Good evening from New Braunfels, TX................

And good news my virtual truckers......we will be moving our little goldfish bowl to a new location!  You know I can't tell you where but if you have kept up with my blog and my text messages, you already know.

We will receive a substantial increase in cents per mile and paid down time......and one hell of an increase for a pet deposit but at least it is fully refundable if you have a good dog.......and we know, I have trained the best.  I am uncertain at this point about medical except that it is 90 days after hire.....my cost, I forgot to ask.  But there is 401K which I won't touch at my age and no passengers are allowed, hence my little extra pay as my truck will have only one sleeper.  Besides, who would want to live with me for 3 to 5 weeks in my fishbowl!? They would be CRAZY....

The tricky part is moving my life from one truck to another.  The recruiter wanted me to try and get a load to their terminal and be in orientation on a specific date.  After thinking about it........NOT!  I can't depend on this company to take care of my basic comforts.  What is best is doing home time with Mom, having her follow me to Phoenix to return the truck and then rent a car to Salt Lake for orientation.  It has been year with no more than 5 days off at one time, all others have been 3 days......I could use a week before I am back behind the wheel again.

I have run hard the past two days and was able to park at 3 PM..........we had a good walk, I made my awesome chicken and rice, and we will be well rested for what ever load they give us in the morning.  I requested to be back in Yuma a week early......let's see if they send us to New York!

Did you enjoy that extra hour of sleep?

Well, actually, you could have slept for 4 more hours but then, you wouldn't have truly enjoyed that extra long shower :)  We arrived at our current destination, Greeneville, TN, at 5 PM last night.  This is the second load in the past 3 days that they have not allowed me to take full trip.  I can understand this one as I only have 7 hours on my 70 (hence the late start.....we can't drive/work past 7 hours).  This load is due tomorrow at 7 AM in Blue Mountain, MS.  Heck, this load isn't even here yet as it was picked up in Virginia at 5 AM EST.  We should be on the road at 10 AM.

I received a text message from Sophie, a past co-worker.  She was called for a reference so someone out there is checking me out.  It could be Prime or other firms that I have applied for.  This is a good thing (as long as my references are nice) as it means someone is considering me!  I will be contacting Prime later today to see how the application process is going.  I might have to do some last minute juggling if a job offer is forthcoming as I want OUT now with this company.  For any of you students at CheckRide reading this.........

Don't come here!

Now, we have 3.5 hours to kill.....so time for breakfast, a show and a walk before we are back on the road.

Stopped at the Petro in Atlanta........

And this lady trucker is not a happy trucker!  I hauled that empty trailer 530 miles, arriving at 3 PM yesterday in Hanahan.  It wasn't until 5 PM that I was notified that I had a load to pick up at 3 PM today....like that is going to happen!  So I did get to relax and enjoy a few while visiting with a fellow driver and listening to the game.

Yes, James, you won only because I let you!  You can ask your Aunt Lorene, I had  already picked the Giants before I talked to you :)

I parked right around this little pond at the truck stop and the trucks were so quiet (I think everyone was somewhere watching the game) and I was tickled to just sit outside with Gonja and watch the otters play and listen to the frogs sing.........and a late night visitor:

I had to edit a bit so you could see the frog eater!

It was  a wonderful spot, almost like camping!

I was up and at the client's at 6 AM (I have been here before) and was loaded at 7:30.   I was suppose to take this load all the way to Texas but they decided I needed to drop it 340 miles away.......here, at the terminal.  I had to stop for my one year review............

It wasn't much, fill out some paperwork and that was it!  Talk about a waste of time.  So anyway, I contacted my dispatcher regarding the 3 cent raise promised to me at one year..........drum roll please

I don't qualify for a raise until May!!!!  My year does not start until the day I finished training and driving SOLO!  As we all know it took 14 weeks due to three different trainers!  Not only that, they don't give 3 cent raises as I was promised!  And for my one week paid vacation (they will only allow 5 days), I am still waiting to here back how long I have to wait for that one!

The Prime recruiter got ahold of me today and they want me as a driver.  If they answer all my questions (the crap I have had to deal with here) with a much more positive note, I AM OUT OF HERE!
