Parked in Tucumcari, NM

Good evening from some town that is known for something per my Mother!

We are on are way to Romeoville, IL, a nice 1250 road trip, and called it quits early due to gaining an hour first thing in the morning.  After a day of driving, my mother singing to me (thanks Mom), and realizing that 3 miles they thought they took from me was only 2 (if the world was flat, I might be pissed), all and all, I will fall asleep smiling.

BUT.......PIX AND JAMES, your Mother will miss the birth of her first grandchild and I know that is life, not you picking on me so you better send me pics dang nab it!  As for Thanksgiving, NOT....I am married to this truck until I find a replacement........divorce is cheaper!

I should be hitting some back country roads on this trip so plan on a "in the street" interview as I plan on taking more time for myself than 5 hours I have been doing for the past 6 months.  Yeehaw!

See you all somewhere.....tomorrow!

Prairie Dog Digging!

Dang nab it, the big one got away!

This cop stopped 3 lanes of traffic after dumping his bike (didn't see any other cars at the scene besides other cop cars)  And to heck with the bike, how are the sun glasses?

Sitting in Albuqueque.......

Just a short note that I am sitting in the yard waiting for a pre assigned load that is already late, go figure.  We are heading out for a short walk and just thought I would shoot you a message that we are alive and well in New Mexico........had an awesome homemade tamale too!

I will update this when we find out where we are going!

A light case of depression is setting in........ :(

I was bummed about the job lost but also found out that James and Pix will be moving to Montana on October 14th and I might or might not be able to see them before the departure depending on when this dang company gets me home.  There will be no "new baby" scent for me to enjoy.......tis one of the big reasons I wanted to be home and now, it doesn't seem so important, I don't have much to return home too.

Stuck in Denver, waiting two hours for my speed to be reduced and my next load is still 5 hours away.  Not making anything today.....THIS SO SUCKS!

It is dark in Laramie, WY!

We sure are heading into fall as when I hit the road in the morning and hit the truck stop at the end of the day, both are without sunlight.

I finally heard on that position I wanted, it was filled by another employee that will transfer from Portland........augh!  Doug was surprised by the outcome and promised to keep me on file and for me to check in often as he would like to have me on board........ME TOO!  The trucking industry does have a high turnover except for the ole boys so I have my fingers crossed that something might happen before winter.

We are on are way to Denver and once the load is dropped, they are going to try again and lower my speed to 62 MPH.  I have reached the goal this month of 7.5 MPG since idle is not required as it is cool enough to sleep and sit.  But I can just hear them complain come winter when I try to keep us warm......so be it, take er down and I will idle to my heart's content when needed......bring it on!

And, with winter hours approaching, my running the clock is going to slow down.  I have yet received a positive word of my loads being on time or running 10.5 to 11 hours per days, 7 days per week, and taking ONLY 10 hours for my rest period.  Let's not forget that I have missed every holiday at home (I don't get holiday pay) and every birthday of loved ones.  Why work so hard if you don't get at least a pat on the back??  And working for that 3 cent raise per mile in February......PLEASE!  I need to take a little more time for myself,  my health and my mental state of mind.  Slow my truck down and you will slow me down......I think I will take an extra hour a day to jog as soon as they mess with my truck.  Take that you @(^&*$%^!

Kisses!

Good afternoon from Springfield, OR

It was time to stop for lunch as my stomach was was making a fuss and for some reason, Gonja had both legs crossed!  LOL  It was time for a break.

Just a little catch up time.....we were back on the road yesterday at 6 AM with a very unhappy dispatcher as I put down the 19th as my return time, not the 20th.  I forgot to change it after they had me work on my requested  day off.  So, she wrote me up!  I am like.....is that the worse you can do?  I just said "thank you" and started driving.

We had a load to take to Canada, I received my first ticket for passing the scales that I never knew were there (been at this crossing four times now), put a dent in the ole credit card, and it took 3 hours to move 2 miles to return back to the US.  I ended up picking up a load in Blaine that is now on its way to Colorado.  It will be a day late as I received it late, just as I did that load to Canada.  The man at the distribution center was very rude when it was out of my hands.  The load was given to me at 7 AM and due in Canada, at 7 AM!  I hate Planning!

Anyway, lunch is almost over and we will be stopping at Lorene's for dinner.  No time to see Angela this  trip but we will make it happen.  And.......no word on the that driving position.  Since the manager just returned to the office, I plan on checking in with him tomorrow morning.  I would sure love a YES or NO.

Later!

Monday morning and the latest news........

I am a little frustrated with the uncertainty of the job opportunity that I applied for and the terrible timing around it.  I called the driver in charge and I received a voice mail stating the manager will be back on Wednesday and I will be contacted then.  Per the email I sent on Saturday, I told them that if I return to the road, it would be at least five weeks before I would be able to drive for them.  Dang nab it......I would just like to hear a YES or a NO.

I have three options, I could empty my truck and pack light in hopes that I get the offer on Wednesday, I could call in sick for Tuesday and Wednesday in hopes of a decision, or I can just do what I was hired to do and drive.  They know it will be five weeks if a decision is not made today.  I can't afford to pack light as that means I will have to eat out.  Calling in sick is not professional if you are not sick.  So.......I am hitting the road with my gear and my dog.  I hate being so logical.....augh!

So pack your bags for at least three weeks.......we are after all, professional commercial drivers!
