Employment Update
The first administrative position for the engineering firm called me for a second interview, I turned it down as I told you all.......she talked me out of working there. The second administrative position with the programming firm, nothing yet. But they did say it would be at least a week before a decision is made. That promised flatbed job......nadda! The owner wanted me to do a ride along with Mike tomorrow and I quickly texted him back stating I wouldn't work until Mike got paid. Mike has been working for him for 3 weeks now without a paycheck........and I don't work for free!
Let me tell you, that busted his b*lls and he quickly fired back a text stating that Mike was to get paid today and it was none of my concern and he would find someone else to drive his trucks. So be it......it just seemed too shady all the way around to me! I mean how can this man promise 100% paid medical if he can't even pay his staff???
I was offered a tow truck driving position today and I even went in for the drug test. But after some rethinking, I don't think I will accept the position. You are glued to your truck for 5 days a week, 24 hours a day. You are on call during this time so there is no pizza and beer, no hikes in the woods, no life for a 120 hours as you need to be within minutes from your truck when dispatched. There is no benefits, insurance, holidays, etc. I want a local job that ends at the end of the day, not the end of the week.
As for me, I have been hiking the mountains this week......what better way to reverse gravity by packing a 30 pound backpack and walking the trails for 3 to 4 hours. And it looks like we will hike nearly everyday this week as rain is not to hit tell Monday!

My last post for Truckabout Reia……we hope!
My last post for Truckabout Reia……we hope!
I have delayed this the past few days as I have been home since Saturday night after a wonderful road trip with Joy (housemate) from Salt Lake City to Duvall. I have been EXTREMELY lazy, enjoying for the first time since March of 2011, a little down time…..a VACATION! The weather has been perfect and will continue to be so until the end of the week so it is now or never. Soon enough, I must begin the new leg of my journey………finding employment.
But you know what, there is no rush as the world has been passing me by for 15 months at 60 miles per hour. So if I just stop, turn off the engine, open that door and take a deep breath; the world will just STOP and move with me. What an awesome feeling! There is no rush, there are no deadlines, and there is nothing that can’t wait until I am ready. Wow! I would have never thought like this before I become a professional driver (trucking princess). I still find it a little difficult to not be bouncing all over the place but this little bit of calm is like the sweet padding on the wall so when I do bounce, I giggle instead of fret of the things I can’t stop.
First and foremost, this career brought me much closer to family and friends. My mother and I have grown a strong bond and a closeness I haven’t had with her in many years. The never ending days of solitude opened my mouth and opened my mother’s ears to listen to the endless chatter of my very boring existence which I think most people would have screamed……..GADS, not again! The same can be said for my sisters, my loving son and beautiful daughter-in-law. My family has been my sanity for the past 15 months and I could not have lasted as long as I did without each and every one of you.
For my dear friends…….you are my best friends! When I started this journey, I had over 50 individuals listed in my cell phone. When I ended this trip, I was down to less than a dozen. I found that friends by association are friends of sort but not the kind of friend that is there when you really need a true friend; a friend of the heart. This includes the few new dear friends that I have met since becoming a driver, fellow drivers from Werner and Prime. We needed each other for support and advice on those long days that sometimes never seemed to end and companies that just didn’t seem to care.
So I thank you my family, my friends and my work associates for helping me keep my head on straight, keeping my eyes focused on the road and lifting my spirits each and every time you answered that phone when I reached out to you.
And to my virtual truck drivers that have kept me company all these months……….you are all awesome!
Thank you and be SAFE out there!

Gads! Sitting at home when I should be rolling!
Good morning my virtual truckers! You know, the company has known since Saturday that I would be ready for a load today at 6 AM. I also told them in my resignation letter yesterday and then I had to tell them again this morning when I started my very cold truck and here we sit........waiting on a load!
I know we won't hit Salt Lake City today as it takes longer than the hours I am permitted to drive. Depending on how soon we start moving, we should be in Boise for the night and turn the truck/trailer in Salt Lake mid morning tomorrow. Joy will be waiting for me to bring me home (housemate). We will take our time getting back to what is suppose to be a beautiful weekend!
Better go shut down the truck and eat some breakfast. Dang nab it, they won't even let me quit on time!
