And I am going to sleep like the dead tonight! We were up and running at 6 AM and dropped that load at 9:30...and I was notified that the load was late! Like......DUH! The last two trips were late due to PLANNING! I sent back a note stating that I did the best driving I could do within the hours of my log......NANNER!
And guess what, they did it to me again! Dang nab it! They sent me on a wild goose chase to find an empty trailer after my second drop today at UPS for....guess..........................
2.5 HOURS!
So.......I was late for my 1 PM pickup by 2 hours and they BLAMED me! OMG, if that wasn't enough, I could have stopped an hour early or push my luck and go over by 15 minutes to gain some time...........and.......
RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC!
Bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep and more bleep (those are cuss words you are reading)!!!! I went over my 70 by 45 minutes........bleep and bleep, shoot me or fire me because at this moment, I don't care. It was another day of 15 minute breaks and no rest for the crew.
I am going to take a full 8 hour sleep and hit the road at 5 AM. This past week has been hell, and I won't be seeing my sister in Vegas for Thanksgiving.........gotta love the weekend dispatch, they don't give a bleep!

Terrible night sleep........
I woke up twice to contact dispatch about the swap ............. and around 3 AM, it was cancelled, I am to drop the load. It is a good thing that I have only 8 hours on my 70 as I will be very tired mid afternoon. Everyone grab your coffee, we have a 3 hour drive! Yeehaw!

Dang nab it, I made a total of $12.50 today!
I was assigned a load at 4 PM, I was onsite at 4:30 for a 6 PM pickup going only 195 miles. The due date was for 6 AM. I could not make it as my hours are up at 8 PM. I notified dispatch.
I sat the shipper for 3 hours before I was given my load and quickly found a truck stop for the night. They are now sending a swap so this load will get there on time and probably wake me up in the middle of the night to do so.
But while at the shipper, I interviewed the guard (a very nice man) and visited with a husband/wife team. Then I got to watch a driver PLOW through a large black fence that separated the two distribution centers. He blamed it on it being dark, the rain and not seeing the black fence which he had to drive between to pick up his trailer! The wreck broke both his mirrors and both windshields! I don't think he will be working for his company much longer!
Off to call James!

9.5 hours left on my 14 .........
It is 10:30 EST and still no load. I have cleaned the truck, gone for a walk, groomed Gonja and watched half of Black Death, a real good movie about knights fighting evil, watch it instant on Netflix.......there is my commercial for today!
It is starting to rain, the needed humidity is good for the truck (kills static electricity) and good for my hair (calm curls instead of frizz). I am thinking about crab salad for lunch and maybe a nap afterwards.
You know, I was told I eat too well for being a professional driver! I precook all my meat and freeze it the day before I hit the road. I stock up on dry goods, dairy, fresh fruit and veggies. My meals can be anything from duck orange with asparagus and mash potatoes to sweet and sour chicken on rice. My daily meals average about $5 a day, all taken out of my truck and heated up in the truck stops. I have turned a few heads and eager noses when the microwave sends out the wonderful aroma of a home prepared meal.
Don't get me wrong, I do eat out once or twice a week (usually breakfast because it is the cheapest meal of the day you can purchase). But preparing your own healthy food in small portions is soooooo much better than a hot dog with a side of nachos!
Now I will return to my movie........sure wish I could have washed my laundry during this wait!
Now which meal looks better FOR you? My truck doesn't sigh in relief when I get out ;)

Couldn't resist this hot dog!
Good morning from the same place as last night :)
I see you are all rested and ready to go.......go ahead and grab that second cup of coffee as there is no load for us yet. I started my clock an hour ago so my 14 will slowly tick away until they find us something. I have only 10 hours on my 70 so it will be a short day none the less.
Another great day of readers last night! My sleeper is getting very crowded with all you virtual truckers along for the ride and I love it! Thank you Karl for your kind email and I do hope you find that plane.
It looks like we will be doing a 34 hour restart tomorrow evening so this could be why planning is taking so long in getting us a load as we have only two days to drive before we sit for 34 hours. I do hope it is further south and heading west to Las Vegas as I would love to spend a night with my sister. I put in a request to be there for Thanksgiving if at all possible since I have spent every holiday in this truck. Keep your fingers crossed!
Off for breakfast..........drive safe!

Where in the heck is Sunbury, OH? Why....where I am at the moment!
OMG! I thought today would never end! I picked up the repaired trailer at 5:30 this morning and had 10.5 hours to drive to deliver it.......I only can drive 11 in a day. I got a 30 minute breakfast break, spent my lunch hour stuck in backup traffic in Chicago, I got a 20 minute jog in to stretch and wake up our muscles and my head; dropped the load just 15 minutes before my clock stopped, and stopped for the night 15 minutes over my 11/14.....I am covered! Too late to eat dinner so a few chips and cheese will have to do.
We hit some back country today and it was a shame I could not see it as it was deep in farm land. I want my 12 hours of sun back! I am getting really comfortable with those small two lane roads......just got to work on the snow/ice covered freeway!
My eyes feel like sand bags and I look forward to that hot shower in the morning.
And by the way......today broke the record in readers! Welcome and shoot me a comment or two, it is more interaction than I can get with my dog!
See you all in the morning!
